Born
and raised in the DC metro area, Joseph Nontanovan is currently the
artistic director of Culture Shock, D.C. dance troupe; a non-profit
youth outreach organization and renowned professional dance company
that received the 2006 Dance/Metro DC Award for Best Emerging Performer
or Group. With Culture Shock he has performed all over the country,
rocked international audiences in Zurich, Switzerland, opened for Omarion
and Marques Houston, and helped organize Culture Shock, D.C.'s "East
Coast Dance Competition," the biggest amateur hip-hop dance event
on the east coast. He was selected to attend an invite-only audition
with Janet Jackson by her choreographer, Gil Duldulao and previously
was on a full-tour scholarship with the Monsters of Hip Hop Convention.
This past summer, he toured Eastern Europe with CityDance Ensemble and
appeared as a featured dancer in the recent Touchstone Pictures dance
hit, "Step Up".
