Thomas,
known locally as “the next Savion Glover”, began dancing
at the age of five and later joined the elite company of “Tappers
with Attitude” for five years. Thomas performed with Debbie Allen’s
“Dreams” and is a winner of McDonald’s Apollo Kids
Talent Search, in Baltimore, giving him the opportunity to perform twice
at the Apollo Theatre. He danced in tribute to Shirley Temple at the
televised “Kennedy Center Honors” and performed with the
Tritonus Choir from Denmark in honor of Duke Ellington’s 100 birthday
celebration. He has toured with the show “Tap Kids” directed
and choreographed by Lisa Hopkins.
In 2003, Thomas was the
principle tap dancer performing the “Tap Dance Concerto”
by Morton Gould with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. In the summer
of 2004, Thomas performed at the Tropicana in Atlantic City in a show
produced by David Saxe called “Prodigy, Kids with Unbelievable
Talent.” Thomas joined “Dance Explosion” in September
2002 where he studies tap, jazz, lyrical, ballet and hip hop, and teaches
and choreographs tap. He has competed in Regional and National competitions
and has won numerous titles, overall high scores, choreography awards,
and tap scholarships.
